Thoughts on Changes

“As flies are drawn to honey, so the arrogant are attracted to power."

“Playing in the money.”

“When a lie parades as truth.”

“You may say to yourselves, ‘How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD?’  If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken.  That prophet has spoken presumptuously.  Do not be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)

A man who remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed--without remedy.” Proverbs 29:1

...and Kicking

Yes, I am still at the same workplace, though my family moved to a brand new apartment across the street from the old place.  A literal stone's throw from our previous apartment.

Life is about relationships,  it is not about power games or piling up stuff.  It's a good thing, because I have been a failure at both of those.

Travels

Through the kindness of some friends I was able to go see my brother's high school team play for the championship in Texas.  They won!  My sister, brother-in-law, and I got to go to the victory celebration at the head coach's house, which was a blast.  I couldn't be happier for my brother.  He has lived and breathed football all his life, and has put up with a lot as an assistant coach over the years.  I am so glad that I got to be there and experience it all.  One of the biggest things that has ever happened in my family.

Bubble Bubble

So I went from being on the bubble, to off the bubble, and this morning my bubble burst.  I was laid off via email as of yesterday.  Found out when I got to work this morning and a friend prompted me to read the email.  Interesting, huh?  Please take all this as a prayer request.

Proverbs to Ponder

These proverbs seem very relevant right now.

10:17
Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life,
but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.

12:1
Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,
but he who hates reproof is stupid.

16:19
It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor
than to divide the spoil with the proud.

29:1
He who is often reproved, yet stiffens his neck,
will suddenly be broken beyond healing.
